Certificate forgery: police against teacher in Kerala

Former SFI Leader Accused of Forging Certificate for Government College Post

In a shocking turn of events, K Vidya, a former SFI leader, is now under investigation by the Agaly police for allegedly forging an experience certificate. The certificate in question was supposedly obtained from Ernakulam Maharaja's College and was used by Vidya to secure a guest lecturer's position at Attapady Government College.

The case was registered by Ernakulam central police after the principal of Maharaja's College filed a complaint. Subsequently, the case has been transferred to Agaly police, as the crime was reported at Attapady college.

Adding to the controversy, Karinthalam Govt Arts and Science College in Kasaragod has also decided to pursue legal action against Vidya. This decision came after Maharaja's College confirmed that the experience certificate presented by Vidya was indeed fraudulent. It was revealed that Vidya had worked at Karinthalam college from June 2022 to March 2023, using the same fabricated certificate.

Upon the exposure of the fake certificate, Karinthalam college authorities swiftly called for an emergency council meeting to verify Vidya's credentials. The certificate was subsequently forwarded to Maharaja's College using their digital document filing system.

In accordance with UGC rules, colleges must convene council meetings to address academic matters. The council meeting at Karinthalam college was attended by Dr Jaison V Joseph, the principal-in-charge, as well as department heads Dr Jinson Joseph, Dr Nevil Stephen, Dr T S Sreeja, and college junior superintendent M Nikhil Sharma.

Sources reveal that Vidya had participated in UGC evaluation camps during her time at Karinthalam college. The next course of action will be determined after examining the response from Maharaja's College principal regarding the certificate, according to Dr Jaison.

Meanwhile, the Congress' Kinanoor constituency committee has filed a complaint with Kanhangad DYSP and the college principal, urging a thorough investigation into the matter.

The fraudulent activities came to light when Vidya submitted the counterfeit certificate during an interview for a guest lecturer's position in the Malayalam department at Government College, Attappady, on June 2. The interview panel became suspicious of the college's logo and seal on the certificate, prompting them to contact the management.

It was revealed that Vidya's certificate claimed she had served as a guest lecturer at Maharaja's College during 2018-19 and 2020-21. However, college authorities informed the panel that no guest lecturer had been appointed in the Malayalam department in the past
